WIRED UK commissioned Evan Kafka to travel to Boston to shoot Missy Cummings, an Associate Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT. Cummings, who was a U.S. Navy pilot for 11 years, is now working on developing a UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) that can be controlled by an iPhone. This sort of technology would allow for a more accessible way to send aid and materials to soldiers and military personnel in unpredictable situations. The story was published in WIRED UK’s December issue. Professor Cummings’ research can also be seen on this video from a WIRED Business Conference last spring, and on the MIT website.
