The exhibition, Floral, takes its name from the photography of flowers, which Bishop has been exploring over the past two years. Bishop, a renowned commercial still-life photographer with over forty years of experience, combines his photographic skills with oil painted backdrops to create images of flowers that push the boundaries of hyper reality, creating a visually tactile experience. Every element of the photo is united by Bishop’s masterful use of light, which maintains a clear sense of space by pushing the work into the realm of trompe l’oeil. The works in this exhibition all reference the artist’s love of the Dutch 17th century tradition.
