Evan Kafka was commissioned by WIRED UK to shoot portraits of Jake Porway, founder and executive of the non-profit DataKind, an emerging leader in crunching and analyzing enormous amounts of data. Trevor Shoots Dinnerware for VIETRI’s 30th Anniversary Spring 2013 Catalog

Trevor Dixon was commissioned last fall to photograph the VIETRI catalog, and we’re so excited to share the newly published work! The Italian dinnerware company was looking to shoot a new line-up for their 2013 Spring catalog, and after discovering Trevor’s work during a portfolio meeting with our senior agent, Jai-Lee, and Dixon Photography Studio Manager, Issa Dixon, the company asked Trevor to partner on a shoot. The creative planning and production for the shoot was a collaboration between Trevor, VIETRI Art Director Jenifer Padilla, VIETRI Product Designers Stef Perry & Warren Maass, the Dixon Photography team, and Glasshouse. It’s always such a joy to see hard work and dedication turn into the creation of such beautiful & elegantly lit photographs. We are so happy to be working with VIETRI, and think that the new relationship works in perfect tandem with the excitement for the company’s 30th Anniversary, celebrated this year!

Be sure to check out more of Trevor’s work on the Glasshouse Assignment Website, and view more behind the scenes information and photographs on VIETRI’s blog!

Trevor Dixon - Vietri

Trevor Dixon - Vietri

VIETRI Art Director Jenifer Padilla & Product Designer Stef Perry had the kindest words to say about Trevor, the team, and the shoot experience:

“Working on a shoot with Trevor and his staff is exciting, inspiring and very professional. Trevor is an amazing artist who makes everything seem easy and is willing to go the extra mile to get the right shot done, his lighting and feel for the camera is not describable, it is pure talent.”

Trevor Dixon - Vietri

“The pre-planning of our concepts is key – Trevor, Bessie and Charlie work hard to recreate our visions. They also bring a very good eye and creativity to the table which just enhances our product and our ideas for each of our product. They listen well, understand we sell from these shots and do whatever we ask when styling each photograph- that is key for us, they also do it with great ease and never act like it is a big deal. It is a great week when we work with Trevor and we look forward to it, is a week of hard work but it always feels fun, satisfying and we learn something new each day.”

– Jenifer Padilla & Stef Perry, VIETRI

Evan Kafka Shoots Genspace Co-Founder Ellen Jorgensen for WIRED UK

Evan Kafka shot portraits of Genspace Co-Founder Ellen Jorgensen for WIRED UK’s May issue! Evan was commissioned by the magazine’s Deputy Picture Editor, Dalia Nassimi, and photographed Dr. Jorgensen in studio, both on white and on a molecular background. The WIRED UK article features Jorgensen and her work promoting science literacy and accessibility to science labs to the public. The organization she co-founded, Genspace, is a nonprofit organization and biolab in Brooklyn that offers educational courses, classes, and events to the public. We love the portraits Evan shot of Dr. Jorgensen, as they expose a warm inviting glow on both the subject and, furthermore, into the world of science. To find out more about the Dr. Jorgensen, Genspace, and the classes offered (like Biohacker Bootcamp!), visit the Genspace Website. Kang Kim Shoots Food and Drink for Playboy Magazine

Kang Kim shot for Playboy Magazine’s April and May Issues! We were thrilled when Photo Editor Rebecca Black called Kang to shoot for the newly redesigned Playboy. Black joined the Playboy team in September 2012, and was working to modernize the iconic magazine and create striking visual imagery “in the spirit of the early years of Mr. Hefner’s visionary magazine, when Helmut Newton, Irving Penn and Andy Warhol were contributing artists.”

Kang was commissioned to shoot vodka, lamb chops, & pasta for the Food & Drink sections of the April and May issues. The articles highlighted favored recipes by culinary experts, Chef Jose Andres and Actor Stanley Tucci.  We’re loving the large-scale layout that Playboy used to feature the images! Kang Kim Shoots Clementines for Delta Sky

Kang Kim photographed clementines for Delta Sky Magazine‘s monthly “My Favorite Ingredient” column. The clementines are a favorite of Chef Karen Hatfield, who owns the LA restaurant Hatfield’s Restaurant with her husband and co-Chef, Quinn Hatfield. As a pastry chef, Karen shares that clementines are a great ingredient to use for a balance of sweet and citrus in baking. Kang’s lighting and composition beautifully highlight the juicy & colorful fruit. Kang has also shot ingredients like brussels sprouts, grits, and chestnuts for Delta Sky. Ryan Pfluger Shoots Playwright Amy Herzog for TIME

Ryan Pfluger was commissioned by TIME Magazine to take portraits of Playwright Amy Herzog. The 34-year-old playwright has written four off-Broadway successes in the past two years, and recently opened her play, Belleville, at the New York Theatre Workshop. Writer Richard Zoglin writes in his TIME article, “Her plays are delicate things, with rich characters and subtly unfolding narratives.” Bellville is about a young American couple who move to Paris, and centers on themes of “trust, truth, deception and dependency.” Ryan had the opportunity to photograph Amy at the 4th St Theatre, where Belleville will be showing through April 14th, 2013. The portraits Ryan captured are stunning, beautiful and pensive. We love the pairing of the images with the article’s aesthetic. To read the story, visit the TIME website.
